Esta imagem espectacular é o fruto da combinação de dados de cinco telescópios ( Karl G. Jansky Very Large Array, o telescópio espacial Spitzer, o telescópio espacial Hubble, o Observatório XMM-Newton e o Observatório de raios-X Chandra ) e que abrangem quase toda a largura do espectro electromagnético.

Futuros telescópios / Future telescopes - BlackGEM Telescope

O BlackGEM Telescope, é um projecto da ESO e de várias instituições astronómicas internacionais, com o objectivo de estudar a fusão de buracos negros e estrelas de neutrões no domínio da luz visível e na sequência das observações de ondas gravitacionais por observatórios especializados, tais como LIGO e VIRGO, e tentará assinalar a fonte desses acontecimentos para que os grandes telescópios possam seguir e aprofundar esses fenómenos.
Será constituído inicialmente por um conjunto de três telescópios interconectados , mas que serão futuramente aumentados para quinze. Será construído no La Silla Observatory, no Chile.

The BlackGEM Telescope is a project of ESO and several international astronomical institutions with the aim of studying the fusion of black holes and neutron stars in the field of visible light and following the observations of gravitational waves by specialized observatories such as LIGO and VIRGO, and will try to point out the source of these events so that the great telescopes can follow and deepen these phenomena.
It will initially consist of a array of three interconnected telescopes, but will be increased to fifteen in the future. It will be built at La Silla Observatory in Chile.
