Oumuamua, o asteróide que pode ser uma nave alienígena... / the asteroid that may be an alien spaceship ...

Quem leu " Rendez-Vous com Rama" de Arthur C. Clarke, não pode deixar de sentir alguma emoção com a passagem pelo sistema solar, do primeiro objecto extra solar conhecido, o famoso Oumuamua.

As semelhanças do mundo cilíndrico imaginado pelo escritor com o asteróide que nos visitou, despoletou as reacções mais variadas por parte da comunidade científica e por último a suspeita,(desejo?), de que possa ser uma nave alienígena, ou pelo menos um robot.

Para que não haja dúvidas, a organização "Breakthrough Initiatives" através do seu braço "Breakthrough Listen", utilizando o  Green Bank Telescope, deu inicio uma uma campanha de observação, escuta, do espectro de rádio, na tentativa de perceber se o objecto emite sinais artificiais.

Até agora as conclusões são negativas, mas há terabytes de dados por analisar.

Mesmo que não se descubra que é uma nave, este estudo vai permitir um maior conhecimento do intruso extragaláctico...

Anyone who read Arthur C. Clarke's "Rendez-Vous with Rama" should feel some excitement about the passage through the solar system, of the first known extra-solar object, the famous Oumuamua.

The similarities of the cylindrical world imagined by the writer with the asteroid who visited us triggered the most varied reactions on the part of the scientific community and lastly the suspicion (desire?), that it could be an alien ship, or at least a robot.

To avoid any doubts, the organization "Breakthrough Initiatives" through its arm "Breakthrough Listen", using the Green Bank Telescope, started a campaign of observation, listening, of the radio spectrum, in the attempt to realize if the object emits artificial signs.

So far the conclusions are negative, but there are terabytes of data to be analyzed.
