A serpente cósmica / The Cosmic Snake

O telescópio espacial Hubble descobriu uma galáxia estranha, escondida por de trás de um gigantesco aglomerado  de galáxias chamado MACS J1206.2-0847.
Revelada pelo efeito de lente, provocado pela extrema influência gravitacional do aglomerado foi apelidada de Serpente Cósmica.
As lentes gravitacionais, cada vez mais usadas pelos astrónomos, podem produzir várias imagens do mesmo objecto e neste caso reproduziram a Serpente Cósmica cinco vezes permitindo aos cientistas ter uma noção mais nítida da sua dimensão.
A natureza, a ajudar o homem na sua busca incessante do desconhecido.

The Hubble Space Telescope discovered a strange galaxy, hidden behind a gigantic cluster of galaxies called MACS J1206.2-0847.
Revealed by the lens effect, caused by the extreme gravitational influence of the cluster was nicknamed the Cosmic Serpent.
The gravitational lenses, increasingly used by astronomers, can produce several images of the same object and in this case reproduced the Cosmic Serpent five times allowing scientists to have a clearer notion of its size.
