The star Proxima Centauri is part of the triple Alpha Centauri system, along with the sisters Alpha Centauri A and B. It is the closest star to Earth and the only one where a rocky Earth-like planet has been discovered so far in a temperate orbit.

O interesse desta notícia é que este discos de poeiras são os restos da formação de planetas e é provável que existam mais além do já descoberto Proxima b.
The ESA observatory, ALMA, recently discovered the existence of dust around the red dwarf, a disk that extends through the star's inner orbits with characteristics similar to those of the Kuiper Belt of the solar system, and signals from another outer disk similar to that which exists in the outer limits of our system.
The interest of this news is that this dust discs are the remains of the formation of planets and are likely to exist beyond the already discovered Proxima b.
