A SCHOTT vai fundir em média um segmento por dia. O acabamento, formato e polimento serão feitos pela empresa francesa Safran Reosc.
In Germany, in Mainz, the company SCHOTT began to merge the first 6 of the 798 segments that will make up the 39-meter main mirror. In total, 900 hexagons measuring 1.4 meters wide and 5 centimeters thick will be built, of which 133 will be in reserve.
SCHOTT will merge on average one segment per day. The finishing, forming and polishing will be done by the French company Safran Reosc.
