NGC 6240, an ultraluminous and very irregular galaxy. / uma galáxia ultra luminosa e muito irregular.

The NGC6240 is located in the constellation of Ophiuchus, 400 million light-years away and resulted from the fusion of two galaxies, which gave it the bizarre appearance it has today.
For some it looks like a butterfly and for others a lobster, but the most interesting aspect is that with the fusion, the resulting galaxy has inherited two supermassive black holes, which orbit each other at a distance of 3000 light years and that will fatally end up merging into a single cosmic colossus.

A NGC6240 situa-se na constelação de Ofiúco, a 400 milhões de anos luz e resultou da fusão de duas galáxias, que lhe deu o aspecto bizarro que hoje tem.
Para uns parece uma borboleta e para outros uma lagosta, mas o aspecto mais interessante é que com a fusão, a galáxia resultante herdou dois buracos negros supermassivos, que se orbitam um ao outro a uma distância de 3000 anos luz e que fatalmente acabarão por se fundir num único colosso cósmico.
