Virgin Galactic e/and Blue Origin, quem vai começar o turismo suborbital? / who will start suborbital tourism?

A Virgin Galactic é conhecida há alguns anos, por anunciar o turismo espacial.
No entanto, o desenvolvimento e teste de todo o aparato necessário ao voo, desde o lançador até às próprias naves, tem sido lento e ainda por cima sofreu um contratempo grave com o acidente da Spaceship Two que provocou a morte do piloto de testes em 2014.

Virgin Galactic has been known for a few years for announcing space tourism.
However, the development and testing of all the necessary apparatus for the flight, from the launcher aircraft to the spaceships themselves, has been slow and, moreover, suffered a serious setback with the Spaceship Two accident that caused the death of the test pilot in 2014 .

Recentemente a companhia de Richard Branson parece ter entrado numa melhor fase, com os sucessivos testes que tem feito.

O último teste decorreu há dias com a nave VSS Unity que foi largada do lançador VMS Eve a 50.000 pés e efectuou um voo planado em que atingiu Mach 0.9. A experiência foi considerada um sucesso e por isso aproxima-se o dia em que a Virgin Galactic transportará os primeiros turistas para o espaço, a partir do seu aeroporto espacial no Novo México.

Recently the company of Richard Branson seems to have entered in a better phase, with the successive tests that has done.

The last test took place days ago with the VSS Unity spacecraft that was dropped from the VMS Eve launcher at 50,000 feet and made a gliding flight in which it reached Mach 0.9. The experience was considered a success and so is approaching the day when Virgin Galactic will transport the first tourists into space from its spaceport in New Mexico.

O grande concorrente da Virgin Galactic nos voos suborbitais é a Blue Origin com o seu veículo New Shepard e a sua cápsula de passageiros futurista Crew Capsule 2.0 que foi testada em Dezembro de 2017.

A Blue Origin poderá também começar com os voos regulares para os seus clientes este ano.

Virgin Galactic's biggest competitor on suborbital flights is Blue Origin with its New Shepard vehicle and its futuristic Crew Capsule 2.0 passenger capsule that was tested in December 2017.

Blue Origin can also start with regular flights to its customers this year.

SPT0615-JD, Hubble fotografou a galáxia mais longínqua / Hubble photographed the most distant galaxy.

Graças ao efeito de lente do aglomerado de galáxias SPT-CL J0615-5746, o Hubble conseguiu fotografar com razoável nitidez uma galáxia embrionária da infância do universo, (quando este tinha apenas 500 milhões de anos ).
É uma galáxia pequena, com apenas um centésimo da massa da nossa Via Láctea e que se estende por 2500 anos luz ( a nossa tem cem mil anos luz de diâmetro).
Há outras galáxias com a mesma idade na zona, mas como não beneficiam do efeito de lente, são apenas pontos de luz no espaço...

Thanks to the lens effect of the SPT-CL J0615-5746 galaxy cluster, the Hubble was able to photograph  with reasonable definition an embryonic galaxy from the universe's childhood (when it was only 500 million years old).
It is a small galaxy, with only one-hundredth of the mass of our Milky Way and extending for 2,500 light-years (ours is one hundred thousand light-years in diameter).
There are other galaxies with the same age in the zone, but since they do not benefit from the lens effect, they are only points of light in space ...

SpaceX, exigências de segurança atrasam estreia da Dragon tripulada / safety requirements delay debut of crew Dragon.

As preocupações da Nasa com a pressurização dos depósitos de hélio  do segundo andar do Falcon 9, e a eventual necessidade de fazer alterações aos próprios depósitos e estruturas de suporte, levarão a adiar a estreia da Dragon tripulada para o segundo semestre deste ano.
A Nasa não quer correr riscos nas missões de transporte de astronautas para a EEI, com a possibilidade de acidentes, como o que ocorreu em 2016 com um Falcon 9 na rampa de lançamento antes dos  testes estáticos de motores e deixou isso bem claro no Aerospace Safety Advisory Panel, um relatório anual independente encomendado pela organização.

NASA's concerns about pressurizing of Falcon 9's second-stage helium deposits, and the eventual need to make changes to its own deposits and support structures, will postpone the premiere of crew Dragon for the second half of this year.
Nasa does not want to take risks on astronaut transport missions to the ISS, with the possibility of accidents such as occurred in 2016 with a Falcon 9 on the launch pad before static engine testing and made that clear in Aerospace Safety Advisory Panel, an independent annual report commissioned by the organization.

Space X, a Dragon de carga regressa hoje à Terra. / the cargo Dragon returns to Earth today.

A Dragon da Missão CRS-13, que está acoplada à EEI desde o dia 17 de Dezembro, regressa hoje à Terra, devendo amarar a umas centenas de quilómetros da Baja Califórnia.
O regresso é tão importante como o lançamento, uma vez que traz equipamentos e resultados de experiências realizadas a bordo da estação espacial e que são muito importantes para a Nasa.

The Dragon of the CRS-13 Mission, which has been attached to the ISS since December 17, returns to Earth today, and must splashdown a few hundred miles from Baja California.
The return is as important as the launch, as it brings in equipment and experiment results carried on board the space station and which are very important to NASA.

China, a ética na exploração espacial / ethics in space exploration.

A China vai ser em breve uma das maiores potências no espaço. Isso implica uma enorme responsabilidade, na forma como lida com a segurança dos seus cidadãos e dos humanos em geral. A queda de foguetões ainda com combustível próximo de zonas habitadas é uma prática inadmissível para um país moderno, e com as aspirações da China... China will soon be one of the biggest powers in space. This implies a huge responsibility in the way it deals with the safety of its citizens and of humans in general. A Índia lançou 31 satélites de uma só vez / India launched 31 satellites at once.

A Índia lançou 31 satélites ( um Cartosast-2 e 30 pequenos satélites, entre os quais um CubeSat francês, o PicSat, que irá vigiar exclusivamente o sistema Beta Pictoris )
O lançamento foi feito por um foguetão indiano, o PSLV, Polar Satellite Launch Vehicle.

India has launched 31 satellites (one Cartosast-2 and 30 small satellites, including a French CubeSat, the PicSat, which will exclusively monitor the Beta Pictoris system)
The launch was made by an Indian rocket, the PSLV, Polar Satellite Launch Vehicle.

SpaceX, Falcon Heavy, à espera dos testes críticos / waiting for critical tests.

Segundo o site Teslarati os testes estáticos de motores não ocorreram ontem, porque, depois de uma operação de abastecimento que correu bem, foram detectados problemas na rampa de lançamento, com uma das oito peças que prendem o foguetão ao solo. 

Esses testes são críticos, porque os 27 motores têm de trabalhar em uníssono e são a única hipótese de detectar eventuais problemas, antes do voo inaugural que deve acontecer ainda este mês.

Ainda por cima, Elon Musk admitiu há meses atrás, que muita coisa pode correr mal com este lançamento, pelo que, todo o cuidado é pouco...

According to the Teslarati website, static engine tests did not occur yesterday because, after a well-supplied fueling operation, problems were detected on the launch pad with one of eight pieces that hold the rocket to the ground.

These tests are critical because the 27 engines have to work in unison and are the only chance to detect any problems before the maiden flight that is expected to happen later this month.

Moreover, Elon Musk admitted months ago, that a lot can go wrong with this launch, so, all care is little ...
